 New dawn @ PCC: the Miki-Ayuk era begins

The new team was inducted in Buea in the South West Region last Sunday March 16.

The new leadership of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon has been inducted. The Moderator, the Right Reverend Miki Hans Abia and the rest of the team was inducted last Sunday, some five months since their election in November last year. The ceremony, held at the Esplanade of the Presbyterian Comprehensive Secondary School in Buea, drew high profile officials, a large contingent of pastors, traditional authorities, and thousands of Christians.

The theme of the event, “Strengthening and Edifying: A Call to Consolidate and Accommodate One Another,” resonated throughout the proceedings, the new leadership’s commitment to rebuilding and reinforcing the church. The focus was on fostering unity and understanding within the PCC community.

The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, marked a significant milestone with the institution and induction of its new Moderator, Reverend Miki Hans Abia, alongside the Synod Clerk, Reverend Ayuk Solomon Eta. The Reverend Miki Hans Abia formally took the vow of acceptance, signifying his dedication to serving the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

The outgoing Moderator, the Reverend Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba, carried out the induction rite, marking the symbolic transfer of leadership. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba offered prayers for divine guidance and protection as Rt. Rev. Miki Hans embarks on his leadership journey. He then presented the distinct pastoral stool and pectoral cross, representing the presence and power needed to guide the Church over the next five years.

Following the induction rite, Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba officially presented Rev. Miki Hans Abia as the PCC Moderator, elected at the November 2024 Synod of Assurance. Drawing from the scripture in Acts 15:36-41, Rev. Miki Hans Abia delivered a powerful sermon, urging pastors and Christians within the PCC to unite and build a strong, unified Church.

 His message centered on the need for collaboration and shared commitment to the Church’s mission. The ceremony also saw the institution and induction of Reverend Ayuk Solomon Eta as the Synod Clerk. With both the Moderator and Synod Clerk now formally in place, the PCC looks to a new chapter focused on growth and strengthened community bonds.

New moderator vows to lead church successfully

During the event, Rev. Miki Hans Abia outlined his five-year vision for the Church, highlighting key priorities for his term. Adding another dimension to the proceedings in Boya, news emerged regarding a substantial financial commitment from the Southwest Chiefs Conference.

The traditional leaders, during their General Assembly, adopted a cumulative project budget of 72 million CFA francs for the year 2025. This funding is earmarked for the 2025 Southwest Cultural Festival, demonstrating the traditional leaders’ dedication to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the region.

The events in Boya, both within the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and the Southwest Chiefs Conference, highlight a spirit of community and forward momentum. The installation of new leadership within the PCC, combined with the financial commitment from the traditional leaders, signal a period of growth and development for the region.
