 Fako: militants welcome Nalova Lyonga as new CPDM chief

A vibrant atmosphere filled Limbe as the city welcomed the Secondary education minister as she returned home for the first time since her appointment as head of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Party, CPDM’s for the Fako Division of the South West Region.

The Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Nalova Lyonga has received a hero’s welcome in Limbe on her first homecoming since her appointment as head of the CPDM party for the Fako Division of the South West Region. Prof Nalova Lyonga was appointed Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Central Committee of the CPDM party for the Fako Division in the South West Region late last month.

Following her elevation into the ruling party’s central committee, Prof Nalova Lyonga held a homecoming event in Limbe on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She used the event to address the party’s militants. Speaking during the gathering, Minister Nalova Lyonga called on militants and sympathizers of the party to express their gratitude to President Paul Biya, who also serves as the National President of the CPDM and is tipped to be the structure’s candidate for the upcoming election, by voting for him in the October presidential election.

She stated that the people of Fako Division owe President Biya a debt of gratitude for placing her within the party’s inner circle, suggesting that this should be reciprocated with unwavering support at the polls. Prof Nalova Lyonga declared, “This is pay-back time. The President has given us something, and we have to give it back to him,”emphasizing the link between her appointment and an expected increase in support for President Biya in Fako Division.

Prof Nalova Lyonga further emphasized the collective identity and unity of the Fako Division. She also announced plans for the construction of a new CPDM party secretariat in Limbe, featuring a 1000-seat hall, a training center, and other facilities designed to enhance party activities. She assured party militants that her delegation would serve all party members equally, regardless of their section or position within the party. Following her appointment and public remarks, members of the Committee on Education of the National Assembly also visited and congratulated Minister Nalova Lyonga on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

The visit was led by the President of the Committee and Member of Parliament for Wouri West, Hon Fandja Gabriel.
