The six-year-old Mathis was allegedly killed in the Ngoa-Ekélé neighborhood in Yaounde by a neighbor, Mr. Nwafo — locally known as Blake who is the father of artist Lydol. The Incident occurred on May 10, 2025, following a bar fight between Nwafo and the child’s father. Witnesses say Mathis’ father struck Nwafo with a glass during the altercation. Later that evening, Nwafo allegedly armed himself with a knife, entered the father’s home, and fatally stabbed Mathis as he watched television. According to the victim’s aunt, the boy cried out: “Uncle, you’re hurting me.” While the community has been left traumatized, Authorities are investigating into the case for justice to be made.
