The celebrated media professional was enthroned in the Bokwaongo village in the Fako Division of the South West Region last weekend.
Iconic media professional, HRM Chief Albert Njie Mbonde has been coronated as the traditional ruler of Bokwaongo village in the Fako Division of the South West Region. The 45-year-old was enthroned last Saturday June 7 during activities coordinated by the Divisional Officer of Buea Subdivision, Abba Abdourahman. The ceremony which flagged off on Friday June 6, was attended by traditional authorities, colleagues, friends of the ruler and thousands of villagers. Speaking during the coronation ritual, he urged the new ruler to lead his villagers towards demonstrating republican and patriotic values.
He challenged him to avoid practices that will promote division and discrimination. “…you are the Chief of all the six families and all sociological components of your village without any distinction or discrimination, and at a time when the country is on the eve of a very important electoral stakes. Cause your people to demonstrate republican and patriotic values of the country to ensure peace and tranquility,” the DO, Abba Abdourahman, stated as notably quoted by The Guardian Post daily. “You need the collaboration of all the vital forces of the community and the synergy you can create with the Traditional Council, elders and villagers who must feel involved in the management of the village,” the DO added.
The Paramount Chief of Buea, HRM Chief Dr Esuka Endeley described HRM Chief Njie Mbonde’s position as a highly crucial and respected, stating that the chiefdom is one of the most important in the Bakweri ethnic group alongside those of Buea and Bonakanda. The Paramount Chief notably emphasized on the need for the new leader to promote peace and harmony in his community and its environs. HRM Chief Albert Njie Mbonde was named traditional ruler of the Bokwaongo people in March this year.
Following his selection by notables, he promised to fight for the continuous progress of the community. He said he will do so by initiating and leading development-driven initiatives that will among others address electricity challenges and a host of other issues that has been affecting the village in recent years.
