A new class of 1,800 recruits has officially begun training at the Commando Training Centre of the Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR), following a highly competitive selection process.
On September 27, 2025, the Commando Training Centre of Cameroon’s Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR) integrated 1,800 new recruits. The candidates are split between the training facilities at Man o’ War Bay and Salak–Mindif. This new intake successfully passed a particularly rigorous selection process.
The requirements weeded out many applicants, as candidates had to pass demanding physical tests, undergo a thorough medical examination confirming they had no illnesses, and provide authentic educational diplomas. To ensure only those who met all conditions were accepted, trainers from the Centre were joined by personnel from the Military Security (SEMIL) and the Human Resources Directorate of the Ministry of Defence.
They officially identified the recruits and registered them in the official databases. This large scale mobilization highlights the determination of many young Cameroonians to serve their nation within an elite unit known for its strict discipline and high level of professionalism.
