Fostering global security: military academy opens doors to new international class

A defense academy in the capital city has launched its academic year, welcoming a new group of military officers from across Africa and Europe.

The ceremony known as the 21st intake named “New Era,” brought together fifty-seven students from twenty-six nations for advanced training in military strategy and leadership. Senior defense officials presided over the event, joined by faculty members and military leaders. The institution’s commander addressed the incoming class, emphasizing the importance of discipline and cohesion in modern military service.

The gathering also featured an inaugural lecture exploring Africa’s role in the evolving global security landscape and the need for the continent to assert its voice in international affairs. The diverse class includes officers from countries such as Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, France, and multiple Central African nations, fostering an environment of cross cultural dialogue and collaboration.

The ceremony concluded with General Valère Nka reminded attendees that discipline, perseverance and cohesion remain essential values for the modern soldier. The incoming class of fifty-seven officers from twenty-six nations now begins their training program focusing on strategic leadership and international security cooperation according to officials.

The gathering marks the start of an intensive program designed to strengthen professional ties and strategic thinking among military personnel.
