Ndian Division: BIR takes fight against maritime piracy to Akpassang

The mission was framed within the ongoing fight against maritime piracy and the protection of the state’s vital interests at sea.

From October 17 to 19, 2025, the BIR Delta conducted a normalization operation in Akpassang, within the Mudemba subdivision of the Ndian Division. The mission was framed within the ongoing fight against maritime piracy and the protection of the state’s vital interests at sea. The specific goal for the operation was to reestablish serenity and reaffirm the state’s security footprint in this strategic area. The task was executed by the 2nd Light Maritime Intervention Unit, which worked to reassure local populations and strengthen coastal vigilance.

Extending beyond a purely military scope, the BIR soldiers conducted a notable humanitarian gesture by distributing food supplies to the residents. This action was presented as part of their commitment to strengthening the Army Nation bond and supporting riverside communities. The operation stands as an illustration of the BIR’s dual mission to both protect and serve the nation.
