Driven by a passion for technology and a knack for sales, Besong Dandrick, 30, has transformed his natural talents into a thriving digital marketing business.

Rejecting the conventional path of waiting for a white-collar job, Dandrick chose to build his own career, proving that initiative and skill development can lead to remarkable success. Besong, holding a Higher National Diploma HND, in Accounting, began his journey in Buea, providing marketing services to small businesses such as phone shops, fashion stores, and hotels.

 Despite the initial challenges of low or even nonexistent pay, he persevered, recognizing the invaluable experience he was gaining. “I did it out of passion, knowing I was gaining valuable experience,” Besong recalls. This early dedication laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial venture. Combining his innate ability to connect with people and his fascination with the internet, Besong naturally gravitated towards digital marketing.

He saw the potential to leverage technology to help businesses grow and connect with their target audiences. “I have always been passionate about technology and spent a lot of time on the internet,” Besong explains. “I also had a natural talent for convincing people to buy whatever I was selling. That combination naturally led me to become a digital marketer.” The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but Besong emphasizes the importance of perseverance and teamwork.

What began as a one-man operation has now grown into a team of 20 dedicated individuals, a testament to Besong’s leadership and vision. He encourages them to take control of their destinies by building skills, gaining experience, and forging their own paths. “Opportunities don’t always come in the form we expect,” he advises. “Instead of waiting for a job, build skills, gain experience, and create your own path. The world is changing, and those who take initiative will always have an edge.” While no specific individual prompted Besong to start his business, he credits his experiences working with small businesses for shaping his vision.
