FSNC candidate, Issa Tchiroma has joined the nation in expressing profound condolences to the victim’s family while condemning the violence that continues to overshadow political process.
Since the vote day, some cities have not known rest with protests and now tragedy has struck in Garoua. A young teacher named Zouhaira, only in her 30s, lost her life during political demonstrations. She was not even participating in the protests but was standing near her home when security forces opened fire.
Her father’s heartbreaking account reveals she was about ten meters from the main road inside their neighborhood when struck by bullets from a heavily armed plainclothes officer. The incident has drawn condemnation from across the political spectrum, with opposition figure Issa Tchiroma expressing his condolences to the grieving family.
In his statement, he questioned the human cost of political ambition, asking how many more must die for power and politics. As the nation awaits official election results, tensions remain high with military deployments reported in several cities including Douala and Yaounde. The community gathered yesterday 22 October to give farewell to Zouhaira at the Laïdé Daneyel cemetery, her funeral marking a somber moment in democratic journey.
The ceremony stood as a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the urgent need for peaceful resolution during these turbulent times.
