Incent scandal : daughter of accused musician seeks justice against father

The daughter, Maryline Alida Atangana N’Gotto made the revelation in an exclusive interview with French language daily newspaper, Le Jour, accusing her father of years of incest, violence, and psychological torment.

Maryline Alida Atangana N’Gotto, the 27-year-old daughter of Cameroonian musician Saint-Désir Atango, has broken her silence, accusing her father of years of incest, violence, and psychological torment. Her allegations follow the arrest of the musician after a leaked video surfaced in which he allegedly confessed to sexually abusing his daughters. Atangana N’Gotto, a mother of two, recounted a childhood dominated by fear in the exclusive interview.

She described brutal beatings with machetes and electrical cables, pointing to a visible scar on her forehead as proof of her father’s brutality. “He ruined my life and left me with scars,” she said, refusing to call him father after years of alleged abuse. The abuse reportedly extended to sexual violence, with Atangana N’Gotto claiming her father used coded language to demand sex. In one harrowing incident, she alleged he raped her in front of her young daughter after she refused his advances.

She also revealed forced loyalty pacts made under death threats, binding her and her sisters to silence. Her decision to speak out came after a family meeting three years ago failed to address the abuse she explains. The final trigger was her elder sister’s pregnancy, rumored to be Saint-Désir’s child a claim Atangana N’Gotto denies, disclosing she secretly took birth control to avoid the same fate. Her elder sister reportedly defends their father, while a younger sister fled home and supports Atangana N’Gotto’s account.

The musician’s arrest followed a formal complaint filed by Atangana N’Gotto and her mother after the viral video surfaced.   “I feel ashamed and scared, but I want him to pay for what he did,” she confessed, expressing relief that her ordeal is now public but fearing judgment from those who might doubt her. The case has shocked Cameroon, drawing attention to the alleged crimes of a once-respected artist. Authorities continue investigations as Atangana N’Gotto seeks justice for the trauma she claims has defined her life.
