Inclusive Guidance:  building a Future for Every Learner

On the occasion of the 23rd National Day of School Guidance, the Alfred Saker College in Douala hosted the official launch of activities, under the banner of inclusive education.

The kick off for the National School Guidance Days (JNOS) was given on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Alfred Saker College in Douala by Thamar Eboa, Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Secondary Education for the Littoral region. This edition, held under the theme “School guidance, a contribution to the promotion of quality inclusive education at the secondary level,” highlights a major challenge: offering every student, regardless of their abilities, the same chances of success.

The opening ceremony, punctuated by a mini-exhibition, allowed students to discover various educational paths and professions. Between practical demonstrations, booth presentations, and exchanges, the objective was clear: to help young people better understand the importance of guidance in building their future. “Inclusive education is about welcoming every student as they are, without stigma or exclusion,” explained Dorcas Njoh Eteki, head of the college’s guidance service.

For her, the mission of the guidance counselor is not limited to guiding academic choices but extends to valuing the potential of every learner. Participants were also made aware of the need to rethink support methods to better include children with specific needs. Beyond the speeches, this 23rd edition highlighted a often discreet but essential link in the educational system: the guidance counselor, a true compass in the students’ journey.

From 6th grade to the Final year (upper sixth ), they help make informed choices and prepare for a successful transition into working life.
