Far North Region candidate, Josiane Golonga Harangada is the winner of the 2025 edition of the Miss Cameroon contest. She was confirmed champion at the end of a vibrant ceremony organized at the Yaounde Conference Center on the night of Saturday July 12 breaking Sunday July 13. The event was punctuated by an amazing parade filled with misses which captured minds of audiences in the presence of the First Lady Mme Chantal Biya. Josiane Golonga Harangada succeeds Noura Raïssa Njikam.

The 23-year-old archivist from Yagoua in the Far North region triumphed over 19 finalists in a closely contested competition whose finale was also attended by government officials, and an enthusiastic audience.

A victory with a purpose

Josiane Golonga Harangada, a graduate of the Advanced School of Mass Communication, ASMAC Yaounde and former winner of Miss 50th anniversary at her higher institution of learning in 2023, stood out for her ambitious project focused on women’s empowerment. Her platform includes entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and improved access to financing, accompanied by a structured approach which many say is contrasting to the vague pledges often associated with beauty pageants.

Despite these debates, the rewards for the new queen remain substantial, a 10 million FCFA cheque, an apartment, a car, and a one-year salary. The 2025 Miss Cameroon parade stresses the enduring social and cultural significance of beauty competitions in the country. Beyond the glamour, Josiane’s win reflects a shift toward purpose-driven representation, blending regional pride with national aspirations.

As she begins her reign, all eyes will be on how she translates her vision into tangible impact for Cameroonian women.
