October 12 poll: Candidate Joshua Osih of SDF urges peace, respect for voters’ choice

Acknowledging the fact that his party did not win, opposition leader Joshua Osih stated the people’s verdict is clear and should be respected.

In a statement following the presidential election, opposition leader Joshua Osih has accepted the emerging results, placing national peace and the clear will of the people above all. While thanking his supporters for their hard work over three years, the leader stated that based on their own internal data, the trends from the October 12 vote are clear. The people have spoken, and the verdict of the ballot box is clear, he said, adding that they accept this outcome with total respect for the sovereign will of the Cameroonian people.

He confirmed that noted irregularities will be brought before the Constitutional Council, trusting the institution to examine the facts with rigor. However, he made a firm promise, if any appeal should go against the clearly expressed will of the Cameroon people, we will refrain from pursuing it, because the stability of our nation and the preservation of peace must always come first. The leader also revealed his intention to call the winner to offer congratulations once the process is complete.

His greatest wish, he shared, is for the victory to serve the ordinary Cameroon man and woman who simply wish to live with dignity and believe in their country again. Beyond parties and candidates, he concluded, it is Cameroon that must emerge victorious from this election.
