Presidential election: Cameroonians await proclamation of results as ELECAM concludes vote counting

In few days to come, Cameroonians will receive the final election results as ELECAM concludes vote counting and forwards all documents to the Constitutional Council for final validation.

Enow Abrams Egbe, President of Cameroon’s Electoral Council has officially declared the completion of vote counting and consolidation processes from the October 12 presidential election. Speaking five days after polls closed, Dr. Egbe confirmed the electoral body has successfully concluded its mandate by forwarding all documents to the Constitutional Council for final validation.

The ELECAM president certified the electoral process maintained full inclusivity, involving all candidates and stakeholders throughout the entire process from initial consultations to final ballot counting. He provided detailed operational timelines, confirming that since October 14th, all official record forms from polling stations have been properly deposited with municipal commissions.

These documents underwent processing in strict compliance with electoral legislation before being systematically forwarded to departmental and national levels for consolidation. With the completion of this critical phase, the comprehensive electoral documentation now advances to the Constitutional Council for examination. This independent judicial body holds exclusive constitutional authority to proclaim definitive election results, operating within the legally mandated fifteen-day period following poll closure.

The submission is the commencement of the final stage in determining the official outcome of the presidential election. This announcement is a crucial moment in the electoral calendar, and to candidates, confirming the successful execution of technical and administrative responsibilities by the electoral commission.

The nation’s attention now turns to the Constitutional Council’s impending decision, which will provide the legally binding conclusion to the electoral process. The methodical and transparent conclusion of this phase stands as essential for preserving public trust in the electoral system’s integrity while ensuring orderly transition to subsequent administrative procedures.
