 Visit to douala: Ngoh Ngoh marvelled at PAD’s modernisation drive

The Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh says progress achieved at the Port Authority of Douala, PAD, is testament to the Head of State’s vision for the country’s economic growth and modernisation.

Representing the Head of State, Paul Biya, Minister Ngoh Ngoh attended a detailed briefing on PAD’s modernization initiatives, which highlighted key achievements in infrastructure upgrades and operational efficiency. He expressed gratitude for the government’s ongoing support and outlined plans to position Douala as a leading maritime transport hub in the Gulf of Guinea. Ngoh Ngoh commended the advancements, stating, “The Port of Douala is a crucial gateway for trade in Cameroon and the region.

 The progress achieved here is a testament to the Head of State’s vision for economic growth and modernization. This port is vital not only to our nation but also to our neighbors in Central Africa.” Upon arrival at PAD, Ngoh Ngoh was welcomed by Littoral Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua and several high-ranking government officials, including the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, and the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella.

They were received by PAD’s General Manager, Cyrus Ngo’o, who provided an update on the port’s recent developments and strategic ambitions. Following the briefing, the delegation toured newly installed facilities and equipment designed to enhance the port’s competitiveness. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening Cameroon’s logistics infrastructure and improving trade efficiency.

 In addition to his visit to PAD, Ngoh Ngoh also inspected urban development projects in Douala, including the newly inaugurated national identity card personalization center in Bonanjo. His visit followed a recent mission to the Leké Division in the Centre Region, where he reviewed the progress of the 81.5-kilometer Lekie Loop road project. Accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, he assessed challenges affecting the project’s execution and emphasized its importance in improving connectivity between agricultural zones and urban centers.

 The visits to Douala and other regions highlight the government’s strategic focus on infrastructure as a driver of economic development. With ongoing investments in key sectors, Cameroon continues to position itself as a regional leader in trade and transport.
