Yaounde: controversy over dead of woman in accident involving Francis Ngannou

A recent tragic accident involving boxer and mixed martial artist, Francis Ngannou, claimed the life of a 22-year-old lady.

An accident in Yaoundé which claimed the life of Ntsama Manuella, a 22-year-old girl involving celebrated Cameroonian athlete, Francis Ngannou has sparked calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The accident involved a motorcycle driven by Francis Ngannou, a prominent figure in mixed martial arts. Following the incident, Ngannou reportedly transported the injured woman to the Yaoundé General Hospital.

Despite medical intervention, Ntsama Manuella succumbed to her injuries, which included severe leg and arm damage requiring surgery. The tragedy has deeply affected the community, prompting reflections on road safety and responsible behavior. Public reactions have been varied, with some suggesting Ngannou should be held accountable, while others speculate on potential negligence by medical staff or the victim herself.

Barrister Christian Ntimbane Bomo has publicly called for a comprehensive investigation into Ngannou’s alleged involvement, emphasized the necessity of determining whether Ngannou was at fault, citing possible speeding or negligence, or if the victim contributed to the accident. He elaborated the principle of equality before the law, applicable to all citizens regardless of their status. Reports indicate the accident occurred in the Omnisport neighborhood, where Ngannou’s motorcycle struck Ntsama Manuella.

The injuries sustained proved fatal despite the efforts of medical personnel at the General Hospital in Yaoundé. The incident has also ignited broader discussions about traffic safety and personal responsibility.  While many are calling for a swift and thorough investigation due to Ngannou’s high profile, some have drawn comparisons to other incidents, such as the landslide in Dschang, questioning whether those events received the same level of scrutiny and demand a call to action concerning the numerous accidents that cause lives.

The focus remains on understanding the facts of this specific case and ensuring justice is served.
